Selena Gomez is reflecting on her friendship with Taylor Swift. The singer and actress shared how she and the pop icon bonded over their teenage romances with the members of the Jonas Brothers.

Speaking on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast, Gomez shared how the two connected during the early stages of their careers. She described that era as the beginning of their lasting friendship.

Gomez dated Nick, and Swift dated Joe. The duo bonded after the breakup. “We became best friends after that,” Gomez said. “Now here we are, 16 years later.”

The duo first met Swift in 2008, and Gomez shared a special memory: Swift played her an unreleased version of what would become one of her biggest hits. “‘Love Story’ was the first song she ever played for me,” Gomez recalled. “We were in a hotel room, and I remember it so clearly. I thought, ‘This is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.’”

Friendship, Wedding Bells, and More

Over the years, Gomez and Swift have continued to show up for each other – whether supporting one another at awards shows or celebrating milestones. Swift recently praised Gomez’s engagement to music producer Benny Blanco and playfully claimed she’d serve as the flower girl at their upcoming wedding.

The wedding between Gomez and Blanco has hit a bump: security-wise. A leak confirmed the location, and with bestie Taylor Swift and her beau Travis Kelce on the guest list, the couple is scrambling to lock down security.

With all eyes on Selena Gomez’s wedding and the guest list stacked with big names like Steve Martin, Meryl Streep, Martin Short, and EdSheeran, it’s no wonder the star is feeling the heat. Of course, Gomez had to include her grandmother’s biscuits and gravy on the menu for dessert!
