Sometimes good acting skills are not enough to land a legendary role. And that is exactly what Alyson Stoner did to become an icon. Now, you might recall Stoner as a child actor from ‘Camp Rock’ and ‘Cheaper By Dozen.’ However, she wanted her real shot to fame to be ‘Hunger Games.’ Portraying the character of Katniss Everdeen, Stoner wanted to make history. Unfortunately, she lost the role to Jennifer Lawrence. However, in order to pass the audition, she put herself through pain and discomfort unimaginable to the common people.
Alyson Stoner Turns Head With Her Rigorous ‘Hunger Games’ Diet
Stoner has recently worked on a memoir highlighting the ups and downs of her Hollywood stint so far. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Stoner detailed how exactly she went to extremes for the role of Katniss Everdeen. She stated how at just 17, she got herself to attend a weight loss camp. Inside the camp, the 31-year-old went through a couple of weeks of extreme training.

She was working out seven hours a day on a calorie deficit! Stoner further pointed out that despite the extreme nature of her schedule, nobody batted an eye. She recalls having dizzy spells and also had blackouts. Unfortunately, despite realizing the gravity of the situation, a set doctor refused to pen down her actual diagnosis. And that was not all. Stoner had more fiery revelations up her sleeves!
She said that if doctors pointed out the actual diagnosis, they could have been banned from working. “He didn’t mark anything on my file because it ‘might stop the production company from letting you work.’ I followed the doctor’s orders and ignored the murmur like he did, deducing that Hollywood must exist above medicine, above the law, and even above common sense,” said Stoner.
Surely, this was a shocker from Stoner. She did shed light into what goes behind the glamor and glitz of Hollywood. However, no official reaction about her comments from ‘The Hunger Games’ team has come yet.
