Charlize Theron has reportedly been blacklisted from any future events involving Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez after she publicly mocked their extravagant wedding in Venice. The newlyweds’ multi-million dollar celebration made headlines last week, with A-list guests like Leonardo DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom, Ivanka Trump, and the Kardashian-Jenner family in attendance.

At her Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project’s fifth annual Block Party, the Oscar winner joked about not receiving an invitation to the wedding. Theron quipped, “That’s okay because they suck and we’re cool.” She went on to criticize Bezos for spending millions and disrupting the lives of local Venetians. The criticism drew cheers from the crowd and praise online.

However, insiders say Bezos was “livid” over the comments. According to entertainment journalist Rob Shuter, sources close to the couple claim Theron has now been unofficially banned from all Bezos-related events. This includes Blue Origin launches, luxury yacht getaways, and high-profile charity galas. Sanchez reportedly considered clapping back on Instagram but was talked out of it.

Other Celebs Chime In

Theron isn’t the only celebrity who’s taken aim at the opulent affair. Rosie O’Donnell posted on Instagram, “The Bezos’ wedding. It turned my stomach seeing all these billionaires gathering in the gross excess of it all. The show of it.”

Katie Couric criticized Sanchez’s wedding gown, calling it “tacky” and a blatant display of “conspicuous consumption.” On a now-deleted post, Katie wrote, “Welcome to the eighties – when big hair and conspicuous consumption ruled. Apparently tacky is back.”

Mia Farrow took a subtler approach in critiquing the Bezos wedding, choosing instead to spotlight his ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott. “How awesome is MacKenzie Scott! (Jeff Bezos’s first wife & mother of his 4 children),” Farrow posted. “As of mid-December 2024, she had given a total of $19.3 billion to over 1,600 charitable organizations.”

While others directly slammed the lavish affair, Farrow’s praise for Scott served as a quiet yet pointed contrast to the extravagance of the recent nuptials.

Celebrities weren’t the only ones criticizing the wedding. The couple had originally planned to tie the knot in Cannaregio, a central district in Venice. Public backlash threatened to derail the event by flooding the city’s canals with inflatable crocodiles to block guests from attending

In response to the mounting criticism, the ceremony was relocated to another site on the eastern side of the city.
