Taylor Swift has been named as a potential witness in the legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni over their film It Ends With Us. The court subpoena, however, appears to be more about headlines than substance. According to Swift’s team, her involvement in the movie was limited to licensing a single song, nothing more.
Swift, who had no role in the production or casting, never visited the set or contributed to the film creatively. Her song “My Tears Ricochet” was one of many tracks used, and she reportedly didn’t even watch the movie until after its public release. Her representatives made it clear that she was busy with her world tour throughout 2023 and 2024 and was not in a position to influence anything related to the film.
Swift’s team criticized the subpoena as a publicity stunt, aimed at exploiting Swift’s name for attention. They emphasized that dragging her into a case where she had no meaningful involvement serves only to distract from the real legal issues at hand.
Taylor Swift & Blake Lively: Lawsuits, Celebrity Drama, and Alleged Pressure Behind the Scenes
The legal dispute arises from Lively’s December 2024 lawsuit accusing Baldoni of harassment and unprofessional conduct during It Ends With Us. She claims he retaliated for raising concerns and launched a smear campaign. Baldoni has denied the allegations, filing a countersuit for defamation and extortion. He also named Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, alleging a coordinated effort to control the film.

Among Baldoni’s accusations is a meeting at Lively and Reynolds’ home, where he claims Swift attended and praised Lively’s version of the script. Baldoni says the message was clear: he was expected to accept the changes. He later sent Lively a lighthearted text, saying her script was better, even without influence from Reynolds or Swift. Her reply, he claims, jokingly called herself a powerful figure. Referring to Swift and Reynolds as her “dragons” and comparing them to intense stage parents.
Baldoni also alleges that Reynolds mocked him in Deadpool & Wolverine with a new character called “Nicepool.” This character supposedly made pointed remarks about on-set behavior and postpartum recovery, which Baldoni believes targeted him.
Meanwhile, sources close to Swift and Hugh Jackman (who is rumored to be subpoenaed) has placed an argument. That neither is aware of the conflict’s details. They suggest their names are being used to deflect from the main allegations. The joint trial for both lawsuits is set for March 2026.
