A new fan theory on ‘Sourdough’ claims Taylor Swift will headline the halftime show on Super Bowl LX. Swifties believe that Swift may have even dropped hints during her New Heights podcast appearance.
Whether football fans like it or not, Taylor Swift has built a strong connection to the NFL since she began dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce. Now, many believe the Grammy winner will take the field herself in 2026 to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show – one milestone still missing from her résumé.
After announcing her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, at a two-hour interview with Travis Kelce and his brother Jason. The 14-time Grammy winner confessed to a new obsession with sourdough baking.
Taylor explained that baking sourdough bread has “taken over [her] life in a huge way,” and said that she’s talking about bread “60% of the time now.”
“It’s become a huge, huge factor…I’m just, like, always baking bread and texting my friends,” she said.
The Clues Are in the Sourdough
Swifties didn’t take it as casual banter; instead, they believe she planted coded clues. Fans connected her fascination with sourdough to the 49ers’ mascot, Sourdough Sam, and to Levi’s Stadium, which will host Super Bowl LX.
Fans also tied her “60 percent” remark to the 60th edition of the Super Bowl. They even flagged her mention of “47 seconds” as a possible nod to her 47th Eras Tour stop – at Levi’s Stadium. When Swift called her sourdough fixation a “huge factor,” followers suspected she was teasing something even bigger.
Is This the Year?
Swift has long said she wouldn’t perform a Super Bowl halftime show until she owned or rerecorded all of her masters. This year, she finally bought them back after rerecording several of her iconic albums. With her new album dropping in October, a Super Bowl performance in February would seem on brand.
In recent years, organizers have announced the halftime show headliner in September, so fans may not have to wait long to find out whether Taylor is preparing for something much bigger.
If not, Swifties should not treat it as a case of sour grapes. Sorry, sourdough.
