Hulk is mad. Mark Ruffalo is firing back at Joe Rogan over his past support of Donald Trump, following Rogan’s recent criticism of the president’s harsh immigration raids. Rogan, who hosts the popular podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, had consistently supported Trump during the 2024 election campaign but has started expressing concern about the administration’s handling of immigration enforcement.
On a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, featuring Replit CEO Amjad Masad, Rogan said “We were told there would be no – well, there are two things that are insane,” Rogan said. “One is the targeting of migrant workers. Not cartel members, not gang members, not drug dealers. Just construction workers. Showing up at job sites. Gardeners. Really?”
After a clip of the conversation circulated on Threads, Ruffalo, took aim at Rogan for feigning surprise over the administration’s actions, despite having backed Trump throughout the campaign.
“Dear @joerogan, it’s a little late now to pretend like Project 2025 didn’t exist and wasn’t the playbook all along,” Ruffalo wrote. “You are either not that smart or not that dumb. It’s hard to tell at this point.”
What is Project 2025?
Project 2025, published in 2023 by a conservative think tank, outlines a sweeping plan for restructuring the federal government under a second Trump term. The 900-page policy blueprint proposes expanding executive power, dismantling departments, ending diversity and inclusion efforts, and replacing career civil servants with political loyalists.
In recent months, the Trump administration has ramped up immigration raids, targeting both convicted criminals and undocumented migrants without records. Raids have taken place in homes, businesses, and public spaces across the U.S., including restaurants, farms, parking lots, and even a racetrack. The administration is reportedly aiming to detain 3,000 undocumented people per day and pursue mass deportations.
Last week, Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was arrested.
Ruffalo Against Trump
Ruffalo, a longtime Trump critic, has remained outspoken about the former president.
In a social media video posted after Trump’s election win, Ruffalo directly challenged the narrative that blames immigrants for the country’s problems. “Immigrants aren’t criminals,” Ruffalo declared, “They add to our economy by the billions.”
He pointed the finger instead at what he called the real culprits: billionaires who manipulate power and wealth while scapegoating the vulnerable. “It’s time to take our country back from extreme wealth that has its hands all over the power of the nation,” he said.
A longtime activist for climate action and other progressive causes, Mark Ruffalo joined the No Kings protests last month and loudly supported Kamala Harris’ campaign to block Trump’s return to the Oval Office. Alongside several fellow MCU cast members, Ruffalo campaigned hard – but ultimately, the effort failed.
