Kim Kardashian launched a new face wrap, and it has gone viral. However, one expert says it offers little to no medical benefit. SKIMS marketed the wrap – its first-ever face product – as a “must-have,” featuring “signature sculpting fabric,” “collagen yarns for ultra-soft jaw support,” and velcro closures for everyday use.

A facial plastic surgeon based in Boston broke down why he believes the $48 SKIMS Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap makes empty promises and what people should consider instead for real facial contouring.

“This isn’t a sculpting, lifting, or shaping device,” Dr. Akshay Sanan said. “It’s basically a post-op facelift or neck lift wrap rebranded with SKIMS packaging. All it does is hug your face tightly and hope for the best. You’re better off saving your money or using it to book an actual consultation.”

The double board-certified doctor emphasized that the wrap lacks any scientific evidence to support its claims of long-term contouring benefits. Instead, he recommended investing in proven treatments-like a deep-plane facelift – or simply sticking to a consistent skincare routine.

“This might be cute for TikTok,” he added, “but it’s not doing much for your facial anatomy.”

What Does the Wrap Claim to Do?

Kardashian announced the new product on Instagram, promoting its supposed benefits. In her Instagram story, she claimed that the face shapewear is a “necessity” and the material is “infused with collagen yarns” with “amazing jaw support”.

Not everyone celebrated the launch. Fans flooded SKIMS’ Instagram comments with criticism over the wrap’s message and appearance.

“SKIMS: making women feel bad about themselves since 2018,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “Propaganda I’m not falling for.”

The most telling comment came from Caroline Hirons, a skincare expert who simply wrote: “Is it April Fools?”

Even actor Sir Anthony Hopkins joined the buzz. In a viral Instagram video, the 87-year-old Silence of the Lambs star tried on the wrap and joked about feeling younger. “Hello, Kim. I’m already feeling 10 years younger,” he said before mimicking his iconic Hannibal Lecter character.

Whether viewed as a fun novelty or a questionable beauty product, the SKIMS Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap has certainly sparked conversation – among fans, critics, and even Hollywood legends.
