Justin Timberlake went viral for all the wrong reasons after fans slammed his performance at Romania’s Electric Castle music festival. A video of Timberlake singing “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” blew up on TikTok, racking up over 1.5 million views. Viewers criticized him for leaning too heavily on the crowd to carry the song.

“Dude took a day off on stage,” one user captioned while reposting the clip. Performing in the rain, Timberlake pulled up his jacket hood and sang the opening line of the hit song. He then pointed the mic toward the crowd, prompting them to sing the rest. For most of the minute-long clip, he simply gestured and danced while letting the audience do the heavy lifting.

Lackluster

The set marked Timberlake’s first-ever performance in Romania, where he headlined the Transylvanian music festival last week. One Romanian fan posted a harsh review of the show while calling out his lackluster performance accusing Timberlake of not respecting the audience.

Another one wrote: “You come to my country, I pay a lot of money, it’s raining like s—,” she said. “I’ve been waiting for you all day. You were late, first of all. And then you sing like five words on each song.”

Many fans felt Timberlake disrespected the paying audience by offloading most of the performance onto the crowd. Others shared similar experiences from his recent European tour stops.

“I just wanna add that we saw him in Estonia and it was a disappointment for us, too,” one person wrote.

Timberlake is now wrapping up the final leg of his world tour, which launched last year in support of his latest album Everything I Thought I Was. He’s set to conclude the tour in Istanbul, Turkey, on July 30.
