Renowned actress Aubrey Plaza received the shock of her life earlier this year. While the whole world was celebrating the dawn of a New Year, Plaza’s husband, Jeff Baena passed away back in January 2025. And that was not all. The actress was in for some more distress.

After the reports of Baena’s death surfaced, the authorities rushed to his Los Angeles home. Shockingly, after thorough examination by the medical team, the death was confirmed as a suicide. Surely, such a grim turn of events had some significant impact on Plaza. And she shared her honest take on the matter recently.

Audrey Plaza Speaks Her Heart Out About Jeff Baena’s Death

Plaza recently sat down for an exclusive on ‘The Good Hang Podcast.’ While speaking to the host Amy Poehler, the actress pointed out that her husband passing at 47 was the darkest phase of her life. She further detailed that she was so disturbed at that point that her life felt similar to the horror movie, ‘The Gorge.’

For the uninitiated, the movie portrays a cliff on both ends. And the twist came in when it showed that in between, there’s a gorge which is filled with some gruesome monsters. And according to Plaza, her feeling too, was exactly the same. She also confessed that after all this time, the mounting grief has stayed constant.

“Sometimes I just want to dive into it and just be in it. And then sometimes I just look at it. And then sometimes I just try to get away from it — but it’s always there,” said Plaza.
