Dame Helen Mirren is a name which has been ruling the acting world for almost six decades. She has always been vocal about women getting the right opportunities. However, as it appears, Mirren did not find it suitable to exercise her words of feminism when it came to James Bond.

Mirren recently sat for an interview with Pierce Brosnan for the Saga Magazine. And that was where one of her answers has created quite the wave. And the question was, should James Bond be a woman?

Helen Mirren was asked by the Saga Magazine regarding her views on if the the next James Bond star should be a woman. Mirren sitting right next to the James Bond star Pierce Brosnan did not take too long to answer this question.

She clearly admitted her thoughts saying, “I’m such a feminist, but James Bond has to be a guy.” While taking a stand against this notion of starring a female actor to portray the role of James Bond, Mirren also made it clear that she is herself a feminist. However, still she doesn’t want women to rule the James Bond world.

Sharing more thoughts behind her choice, Helen Mirren added, “You can’t have a woman. It just doesn’t work. James Bond has to be James Bond, otherwise it becomes something else.” Mirren had previously shared that she did not want a female James Bond. Stating the reason back then she added, she “never liked” the character, and said it was “born out of profound sexism.”
