Emily Ratajkowski is crystal clear about who she keeps close, and straight men don’t make the cut. In a new interview with Elle UK, the model and actor revealed, “I have zero straight men in my life, unless they’re a romantic interest. I still like men, but they’re not part of my core circle.”

Instead, Ratajkowski says her inner world is built on community, and in the hierarchy of needs, men are seen as sources of pleasure and fun – but that’s it. The rest of her life is about women, queer people, and being a mother.

Ratakowski shares her four-year-old son, Sylvester Apollo Bear, with ex-husband Sebastian Bear-McClard. Since their 2022 divorce, Ratajkowski has embraced single life and then dating, though not always successfully. On her podcast High Low with EmRata, she once quipped that she attracts “the worst” men.

“Community” says EmRata

These days, she finds peace in keeping men at a distance. “Not centering men is wonderful,” she said. “Men have taken up so much space in our world. What I’ve found instead is community.”

That community includes longtime friend Lena Dunham, who cast Ratajkowski in her new Netflix series Too Much – her first major acting role since 2019. “I turn down most offers,” Ratajkowski said. “I really value control. In my twenties, I didn’t have much of it. Now, I want to make things, not just be added to them. With Lena, I got to help shape the character, which was really fun.”

Ratajkowski plays Molly, described as the “model/influencer rebound girlfriend of the lead’s ex-boyfriend.” While the role was written for her and with her input, she insists it’s not a reflection of who she is today – especially at 34.

“I’m fascinated by this decade,” she said of her thirties. “My mom had me at 39, and she always romanticized her thirties as a time of self-discovery and power. Now that I’m in it, I feel exactly the same way.”
