It’s the second episode of this season’s Love Island USA, and we already have the first Islander who has exited the villa. Yulissa Escobar has been ejected following a public backlash. The exit was announced 18 minutes into the second episode of season seven without providing specific reasons for her departure.
Peacock, the streaming platform, announced the cast on Thursday, May 29. After the announcement, audiences uncovered recordings of Escobar using racist slurs, according to TMZ. The outlet reported that Escobar said the N-word on two separate podcast episodes.
Viewers expressed their intent to vote her off the show once voting commenced following the emergence of the recordingsword.

At the time of her exit, Escobar had coupled up with fellow contestant Ace Greene, who was previously paired with Chelley Bissainthe, causing tension within the villa. Her departure left Greene single and altered the dynamics among the contestants.
Other Hiccups
Ecobar isn’t the only contestant whose online activity drew attention. Soon after Peacock revealed the Season 7 cast, a user on X shared screenshots allegedly showing Austin Shepard’s TikTok likes, which included several posts supporting former President Donald Trump. Despite the controversy, Shepard remains on the show.
Apart from Chelley Bissainthe and Chelley Bissainthe, the current islanders are Huda Mustafa, Belle-A Walker, Olandria Carthen, Taylor Williams, Nicolas Vansteenberghe, and Jeremiah Brown. Two new bombshells, Cierra Ortega and Charlie Georgiou, joined the villa on the first night. Former Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix returned as host.
There were other hiccups in this season’s premiere. The streaming platform Peacock premiered the seventh season of Love Island USA on June 3. After a nearly 45-minute delay due to technical issues, the show introduced fans to the 10 singles competing for the $100,000 cash prize.
