Jeff Glor is a veteran journalist who joined CBS News as an anchor in 2007. He has left the company following massive layoffs there directed by the parent company, Paramount Global. The layoffs included about 2,000 employees amidst plans by Paramount to cut some 15% of its U.S. workforce.
This is in a bid to cut costs by $500 million ahead of a possible merger deal with Skydance Media. Unfortunately, it suddenly downsized Glor—a co-host of CBS Saturday Morning, a special correspondent, and one of the big names that suffered after this downsizing.

Jeff Glor’s Career at CBS
Glor’s CBS Career Jeff Glor had taken charge of many big responsibilities ever since he was with CBS. He had anchored CBS Evening News from 2017 to 2019 and had seen some of the worst moments for the show.
When the network replaced him with Norah O’Donnell in 2019, Glor moved to anchoring CBS Saturday Morning, bringing his steady presence to weekend audiences. Having worked at CBS for a period of time, Glor had over time obtained an assortment of responsibilities: special correspondent and anchor of news segments on various platforms.
Paramount’s Cost-Cutting Measures
Paramount’s Budget-Slashing Maneuvers During the interview, Glor discussed not only how her decision to leave the network went hand in hand with many of the other CBS News employees but also that this was due directly to some cost-cutting measures proposed by Paramount Global.
That larger restructuring is an effort to position the media giant in expectation of a possible merger with recognition of the need to be competitive in the rapidly evolving media landscape.
This cutback mirrors the wider changes happening within the media industry, in which it is increasingly expected to put more pressure on traditional networks, with their footing treading quicksand, courtesy of the digital platforms and streaming services.
Jeff Glor’s Next Chapter
The Next Chapter of Glor While Jeff Glor has spoken on the sadness he is leaving the show, he also hypothetically spoke optimistically about the future: ‘I want to thank the ‘Early Show’ for trusting me for the last three-plus years. I’m in the process of figuring out what’s next.’
Glor has left behind a career marked with journalistic integrity and professionalism that has touched so many hearts while he was at CBS. His co-hosts, Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson, will probably stay on anchoring CBS Saturday Morning, as it may take a while for CBS to sort out what internal changes must be made
