Travis Kelce’s reaction was adorable. The NFL star was getting ready to tee off at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Nevada, a fan shouted out some encouragement and mentioned Taylor Swift, his pop star girlfriend.
“You have the best girlfriend in the world. You got it!” the fan said, as Kelce paced around the South Lake Tahoe course.
“Good point!” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end replied with a smile.

What is the ACC Golf Tournament?
Held annually at Edgewood Tahoe Resort the week after Independence Day, the ACC golf tournament has become a recurring summer stop for Kelce, who also competed in 2024.
Kelce and his older brother, Jason Kelce, kicked off the first day of the tournament – presented by American Century Investments – on July 11. Throughout the weekend, the brothers shared lighthearted fan moments and exchanged playful banter.
At one point, a tournament announcer introduced Jason as a “zero-star walk-on running back,” prompting Travis to burst into laughter. Jason, after catching his brother’s reaction, responded with a coy shrug. The introduction also acknowledged Jason as “one of the best centers in NFL history,” balancing humor with praise.
During last year’s tournament, Kelce made headlines for dancing to Taylor Swift’s “Lavender Haze.”
Other participants in the American Century Championship include actor Rob Mac, Bills quarterback Josh Allen, and WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert.
“Distractions”
Travis Kelce’s off-field activities have come under scrutiny. Former NFL coach Eric Mangini believes his performance is slipping due to his offseason distractions, including his high-profile relationship with pop star Taylor Swift.
The former Cleveland Browns head coach criticized Kelce’s 2024–25 preparation, saying, “It was filled with everything but football.”
“He’s got the budding romance, he’s on tour, he’s traveling overseas… Then he’s got the TV show, the podcast,” Mangini said. “He’s juggling so many things during a shortened offseason. This is the time you want guys to decompress — not fill their schedules with 50 other commitments.”
During the 2024/25 season, his performance noticeably declined, prompting fans, analysts, and even former coaches to question what had changed.
