The singer and actress reposted a photo of Cyrus in a skintight, leopard-print minidress and summed up her reaction with a single word: “Icon.”
Gomez and Cyrus, who both rose to fame on the Disney Channel, have remained supportive of each other over the years. The two reconnected publicly in 2020 when Gomez appeared on Cyrus’s Instagram Live series Bright Minded. During the emotional conversation, Gomez opened up about her bipolar diagnosis and shared how gaining clarity about her mental health brought her peace. The reconnection began when Gomez sent Cyrus a butterfly emoji via Instagram DM.
“I think you’re one of the greatest singers ever,” Gomez told Cyrus during the interview. “And I was just so happy I got this opportunity to talk to you about some of the most incredible people.”

Both Gomez and Cyrus dated Nick Jonas during their Disney Channel days. The youngest Jonas first sparked a romance with Miley Cyrus in 2006, but the two had split by the end of 2007. Cyrus and Gomez seem to have moved past any old tension and left the high school drama behind. Earlier this year, the duo posed together at the Oscars.
