Scarlett Johansson has hinted at a fiery retaliation against Saturday Night Live co-anchor Michael Che following a risqué joke that involved roast beef and the actress’s vag*na. Che wrote the joke for the December 2024 Christmas episode of Saturday Night Live.
In that episode’s “Weekend Update” segment, Che and Colin Jost swapped jokes they hadn’t previously seen. Jost delivered a line about Costco removing its roast beef sandwich, adding, “But I ain’t tripping, I be eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid,” referencing Johansson, who shares a 3-year-old son, Cosmo, with Jost.

The joke left Johansson visibly shocked backstage, mouthing “Oh my God” as cameras captured her reaction.
“Old School Gross”
“I just can’t believe that they went there,” said Johansson in an interview with InStyle. “It was so vulgar,” she noted. Likening it to adolescent humor, she added. “It was so gross. It was really gross. And, like, old-school gross.”
She expressed a sense of responsibility to respond, stating, “I feel like it’s almost my responsibility to come up with some way to burn Michael back. Retaliation, I’d say, should be expected.”

“Scarlett was genuinely so shocked,” Jost told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. “Because I was obviously surprised about everything, but they gave her a heads up. They were like, ‘Hey, would you be okay if Michael made a little, like, kind of vag*na joke at some point?’ And she was like, ‘Sure! You know, whatever. I’m open to it.’”
Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson have been married since 2020 and welcomed a son, Cosmo, in August 2021. The couple met on one of the occasions when Johansson appeared on Saturday Night Live, which she has hosted six times.
Johansson is set to host the SNL season 50 finale on May 17, marking her seventh time as host, with Bad Bunny as the musical guest.
Surely, she can take a joke and give one back.
