Sabrina Carpenter made a bold fashion statement by attending the 2025 Met Gala without pants. Carpenter explained that Pharrell Williams suggested the pantless look due to her petite stature, remarking, “You’re quite short, so no pants for you”.
Pharrell Williams, Louis Vuitton’s men’s creative director, guided the design of her burgundy ensemble, which featured a structured jacket, bodysuit, high heels, and dramatic suit tails.
Beyond the Espresso-inspired fashion statement, Carpenter noted a practical benefit of her attire: the ease of using the bathroom during the event.
“Never been to the bathroom once because I’ve never been able to use it in my outfit. So tonight might be the night,” she said. “We’ll see… And I’m just gonna let everybody know what it looks like. I’m sure it’s just a normal museum bathroom but I’m excited to find out.
Kim Kardashian has frequently mentioned that some of her form-fitting Met Gala outfits have made it nearly impossible for her to use the bathroom during the event.

Carpenter, who stands an even 5 feet (or 1.52 meters) when shoeless had her height as the punchline for the second time this week. Over the weekend, she joined fellow Met Gala attendee Quinta Brunson onstage during Saturday Night Live for the host’s opening monologue – a musical number celebrating the perks of being petite.
“You were talking about being short,” Carpenter quipped to Brunson. “So I thought I’d stop by.”
This also marks Carpenter’s third appearance at the Met Gala. She made her debut last year wearing a black and blue gown alongside Barry Keoghan. The two ended their relationship later that year.
The theme for the 2025 Met Gala was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which also inspired the Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition of the same name and explores the history of Black dandyism.
