Robin Kaye, a music supervisor with American Idol, was found dead alongside her husband, Thomas Deluca, in their Encino home on Monday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
LAPD officers discovered the couple after responding to a welfare check around 2:33 p.m. at their residence. Police said both victims had suffered apparent gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities later arrested 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, a resident of Encino, in connection with the killings. According to a police news release, Boodarian allegedly broke into the couple’s home while they were away on July 10. When Kaye and Deluca returned unexpectedly, a confrontation occurred, during which Boodarian allegedly shot and killed them.
A friend of the couple requested the welfare check after not hearing from them for several days. The police was given access through a security gate, local affiliate KABC reported. Security footage reportedly shows the suspect inside the home for approximately 30 minutes.
American Idol issued a statement on Tuesday expressing their grief:
“We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband Tom’s passing. Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever, and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”
