Miley Cyrus is a provocateur, but for a brief period, she underwent a transformation in an attempt to find happiness. Speaking at the Every Single Album podcast, the Wrecking Ball singer revealed bits of information about her marriage to Liam Hemsworth.
Cyrus and Hemsworth were off-and-on from 2010 to 2012, then got married in 2018. But they split up before finishing one year of marriage. During the interview, Cyrus first brought up Hemsworth while talking about their 2009 film The Last Song.

“That’s where I met Liam, who I would go on to marry and write a ton of – or, most of – my songs about,” Cyrus said, adding, “Talk about catching strays,” about how her songs have referred to their relationship in both positive and negative ways while her image is a way to reconnect with him in her personal life.
“When me and Liam split up the first time with Bangerz because I was this provocateur, like, highly sexualized,” she shared. “For Younger Now, the reason I kind of played into this innocence was because I think it was a way to keep – a way to stay – by being younger now and a less sexualized woman publicly, and this was a way to keep a happy home.”
Hemsworth went on to date model Gabriella Brooks, while Cyrus is currently seeing singer Maxx Morando.
“NILEY for life”
During the podcast, Cyrus also briefly discussed her ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas, saying when they split up in 2009, she saw the singer as a “di*k” and “as**ole” who “dumped” her.
“He’s still catching strays,” she joked and clarified they’re cool now, jokingly celebrating “NILEY for life”.
