Olympic gold medalist Kyle Snyder has been arrested in a prostitution sting. The 29-year-old wrestler was caught last week in Columbus, Ohio. Police say he responded to a fake online ad set up by law enforcement.
Snyder allegedly arranged to meet a woman at a hotel. The “woman” was actually an undercover officer. He arrived about 30 minutes after setting up the meeting. According to police, he offered cash in exchange for oral sex.

Uniformed officers arrested him inside the hotel room. Columbus Police Sergeant Joe Albert confirmed the arrest. He said Snyder was one of 16 men taken into custody during the sting. Snyder is scheduled to appear in court on May 19.
Law enforcement has not released many details. Media outlets have contacted Columbus police for more information.

Snyder’s arrest shocked many in the sports world. He won a gold medal in wrestling at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Later, he was appointed to President Trump’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition in 2018.

In 2021, he took home a silver medal at the delayed Tokyo Games. That same year, he remained a top figure in amateur wrestling. Snyder is also known for his strong Christian beliefs. He is married to Maddie Pack, a former Syracuse soccer player.
Recently, Snyder joined the Real American Freestyle wrestling league. This new league, backed by Hulk Hogan, will begin its first season in August. Snyder was announced as a new addition just last week. Olympic medalists Kyle Dake and Aaron Brooks were also added to the roster.

In 2017, he captured another NCAA title despite tearing cartilage in his chest during the tournament. He ended his college career with a 75-5 record. He was a three-time All-Big Ten selection and went undefeated in 2016 and 2017.
In 2023, he was inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame. He was also a two-time Ohio State Male Athlete of the Year.
Snyder once considered a move to UFC but later turned his focus to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Now, with a court date ahead, his future in sports may be uncertain.
