TikTok creator Malik Taylor, best known online as The Unpopular Party, died at the age of 28. Taylor built his following on TikTok and YouTube with his comedic recaps and commentary.
Malik left his teaching job in Memphis in 2023 to pursue content creation full-time, quickly attracting more than 250,000 followers on TikTok and nearly 80,000 subscribers on YouTube.
Alpha Kappa Psi, his business fraternity, announced the news in an Instagram post dated August 20.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share our beloved Brother, Malik Taylor, has gone to ‘Audit Eternal,’” the statement read. “To know him was to know he was a light to everyone – always bringing laughter, joy, and a warm smile that brightened every room he entered.
Brother Taylor embodied the values of brotherhood, unity, and compassion. His ability to uplift others, share kindness, and spread joy will forever remain in our memories.”

Fans Shocked
Although further details were not shared, the news came as a shock to Malik’s over 250,000 followers. One user wrote, “My God just a baby. I just watched him the other day. This is sad”. Another commented, “I’m so hurt about this. I loved his content on YouTube coming home from a long day and tuning in to Malik” while a third added, “He was a Great Brother ! He was always working to improve himself, and pushed those around him! Now, he can rest in Audit Eternal.”
Just weeks earlier, Taylor marked his 28th birthday with a Great Gatsby-themed photoshoot. He captioned the July 2 Instagram post: “Survived the 27 club (Barely). Only right I celebrate my 28th likes it’s the party of the century. Call me Malik Gatsby. Cheers to the rest of my roaring 20s Old Sport.”
While authorities have not confirmed the details surrounding the circumstances of Taylor’s death, his cousin, Kendall Holloway, seemingly stated that he died in a car accident.
