Louis Tomlinson has addressed the conspiracy theories surrounding his relationship with Love Island star Zara McDermott, admitting they’ve made it nearly impossible for him to enjoy being on Twitter.
The former One Direction star and solo singer explained his absence, attributing it to what he deemed a river of unsolicited conversation and criticism of his personal life.
Without naming specific rumors, Louis tweeted, “The last few months have made it impossible to be on here. All the conspiracy chat about my relationship, my son or even stretching sometimes to opinions on my Mum.”
He continued, “It’s just too much and too hurtful for me to see! Thank you to everyone who always has my back!”
Pain and Payne
The One Direction star, 33, has endured a huge amount since he rocketed to fame on The X Factor in 2010 with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and the late Liam Payne.
In 2016, Louis’ mother, Johannah Deakin, died of leukaemia, and just three years after his sister Félicité died of an accidental overdose in 2019.
Last October, Liam Payne fell to his death from a hotel balcony in Argentina, leaving One Direction heartbroken and in mourning.
Romance with Zara
Louis sparked renewed interest in his love life when he was spotted hanging out with Zara McDermott in March. Although fans had speculated they’d been seeing each other long before the news broke.
The pair went Instagram official with a cute photo from their time at Glastonbury.
Recently, a video of Zara singing and dancing to the songs of her beau onstage has done the rounds online, much to the delight of fans.
For those less familiar with Zara McDermott, she appeared on Love Island in 2018, competed on The X Factor: Celebrity in 2019, and joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2023. She is now a documentary filmmaker and presenter on BBC.
