The friendship between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively may have been strained further. According to reports, Lively could leak private messages from Swift if the singer declined to take her side. The duo have paused their close friendship following Swift’s unexpected involvement in Lively’s legal dispute with actor Justin Baldoni.
Earlier this week, new court filings from Justin Baldoni’s legal team claimed that Blake Lively tried to pressure Taylor Swift into publicly supporting her amid their escalating legal battle. According to the documents submitted on May 14, Lively threatened to leak private messages she had collected over the years if the singer refused to take her side.
The disclosure fueled renewed speculation about underlying tensions between the two stars.
According to reports, the contents of these private messages may include sensitive discussions about Swift’s current relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce. It may also include details about past romances-including her much-publicized breakup with Calvin Harris in 2016.
Baldoni v Lively
Tensions emerged after Baldoni, who is facing a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by Lively, named Swift in his countersuit for defamation, drawing the pop star into the public spotlight. Taylor Swift reportedly feels that Blake Lively has been leveraging her name for personal gain, and that this behavior isn’t new.
“Taylor has known for some time that Blake’s been using her name to elevate herself, but the subpoena has taken things to an entirely different level,” said a source.
Justin Baldoni’s legal team now expects Swift to sit for a deposition as part of his $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively. The questioning will reportedly focus on Swift’s alleged involvement in creative decisions related to It Ends With Us.
Swift’s representatives stated that she did not participate in the “casting or creative decisions” related to the project and never visited the film set.
The rep also clarified that the only connection the pop star had with the movie was allowing the showrunners to use her song “My Tears Ricochet.”
