King Charles is a Swiftie! Following a visit by his royal highness to London’s first-ever SXSW festival, the Royal Family’s official Instagram account shared a highlight reel of his day which was set to Taylor Swift’s song London Boy.
The video shows the 76-year-old monarch exploring various exhibits at the festival, greeting a rain-soaked crowd gathered outside, and chatting with attendees inside the venue.

“Shoreditch in the afternoon! ☔️,” the Royal Family captioned the post, quoting the lyrics to Swift’s song. The caption continued, “Hosted for the first time in Europe, The King has visited @SXSWLondon, a culture, technology and creativity festival in Shoreditch, East London.
Swifties React
Nonetheless, fans of both the royal family and the singer were thrilled to see their worlds unexpectedly intersect.
One user said: “Love the fact they used a Taylor Swift song – Princess Charlotte approved.”
Another noted: “This song choice is giving me life coming from an official royal account.”
Taylor Swift shared the backstage photo on Instagram with the caption: “Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start.”
“The royal family are certified ‘Swifties’,” a third added.
A fourth said: “His grandkids love Taylor Swift, I guess so does his Majesty.”
The gig also happened to fall on the Prince of Wales’ birthday. What many didn’t realize is that King Charles shares a favorite pop star with his grandchildren – none other than Taylor Swift, whom they met during her blockbuster Eras Tour in June 2024.
Prince William brought Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 10, to Swift’s Wembley Stadium show, where they even posed for a backstage photo with the singer and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
For the uninitiated, Swift’s London Boy references her romance with ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, who lives in the city. Alwyn addressed his 2023 breakup from the singer during an interview with The Guardian. “I have tried just to focus on controlling what I can control,” the actor explained
