Kevin Jonas spoke candidly about losing nearly all of his money after the Jonas Brothers split. He admitted that a series of poor business decisions in his younger years nearly wiped out his finances.
Kevin, 37, joined his brothers Nick, 32, and Joe, 35, on The School of Greatness podcast with Lewis Howes to promote their upcoming album, Greetings from Your Hometown. They reflected on how they rediscovered what truly matters after hitting rock bottom.
“I went from early success and financial gain-not fully understanding money-to losing almost all of it,” Kevin told Howes. “Most of it-down to about 10 percent.”
The financial collapse happened around nine years ago, Kevin said, and stemmed from a bad business partnership. “I invested in a lot of property and was building things,” he explained. “But unfortunately, it wasn’t the right partnership, if you know what I’m saying.” He stopped short of revealing more but added, “I learned a lot of lessons from that.”
Second Chance
Kevin Jonas said the Jonas Brothers’ reunion gave him a rare second chance. “Thankfully, we got another shot when the band came back together,” he said. “It was kind of fortuitous.”
He said the experience forced him to reassess how he approached money and the music business.
The Jonas Brothers originally shot to fame in the mid-2000s, with their first tour in 2005, debut album It’s About Time in 2006, and a breakout role in Disney’s Camp Rock in 2008. But in 2013, they disbanded.
During their time apart, each brother pursued personal projects. Kevin explored entrepreneurship, launching The Blu Market to support social media influencers, helping develop the Yood restaurant-finding app, and partnering with the social media platform We Heart It.
In 2019, the brothers announced their comeback on The Late Late Show with James Corden, released their album Happiness Begins, and shared their story in the documentary Chasing Happiness. Kevin added that filming the Amazon Prime documentary helped them heal.
The “Jonas20: Living the Dream Tour,” their 20th anniversary tour, is set to begin in New Jersey, their home state, in August. It will also include Marshmello, the All-American Rejects, and Boys Like Girls.
