Katy Perry is back in the headlines after a chaotic moment during her Lifetimes Tour in Perth, where she dramatically knocked a fan’s Labubu collectible out of their hands mid-performance.

The California Gurls singer was performing her emotional ballad I’m Still Breathing while carrying a tray of TimTams and interacting with the crowd. Perry spotted a fan waving a Labubu blind box and abruptly took aim. Marching toward the fan, she shouted, “I’m still – NO LABUBUs!” before swatting the toy out of their hand with her mic.

Moments later, she crouched down to distribute TimTams to the audience, urging them to use “gentle hands.”

The clip exploded on TikTok, racking up over 157,000 views. In the comments, the fan whose toy was smacked posted, “omg this is the Labubu she slapped,” holding up the infamous box.

Perry herself chimed in under the viral video with a cheeky comment, three devil emojis, making it clear she had no regrets about her spontaneous anti-Labubu outburst.

What Is a Labubu, Anyway?

For the uninitiated, Labubu is a cult-favorite character from The Monsters series by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung. After the storybook’s release, Pop Mart launched a line of collectible figurines, which quickly developed a rabid fan base. Demand has become so intense that scalpers now sell the tiny creatures for inflated prices.

Oh Katy…

No stranger to viral moments or controversy, Katy Perry faced intense online criticism following her participation in Blue Origin’s all-female spaceflight and the launch of her Lifetimes Tour. The singer said that she felt like a “human piñata”.

In addition, her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, had reportedly disapproved of her decision to join Blue Origin’s all-female spaceflight. This revelation surfaces as reports indicate the couple is experiencing a rough patch in their relationship.
