Is Tom Holland the next James Bond? He’s not denying it! With a new James Bond film on the horizon and Dune director Denis Villeneuve officially taking the helm, all eyes are on who’ll step into the iconic role of 007 – and Tom Holland’s name keeps coming up.
During a recent cooking video with chef Gordon Ramsay, Holland stirred the rumor pot just a bit more while making a spicy fried chicken sandwich. Ramsay cheekily asked him if he had thought about “using the word James in future movies,” clearly hinting at the Bond buzz. Holland played it cool:
“Listen, there’s speculation at the minute. We’ll keep it to a minimum for now.”
When Ramsay pressed with a surprised “Really?”, Holland smiled and replied, “We’ll get there one day.”
He didn’t confirm anything – but he didn’t shut it down, either.
Spidey to Bond?
“Every young British actor – it’s the pinnacle of working in our industry,” he said. “I already consider myself to be the luckiest kid alive. I could never have dreamed to have the career that I’ve had.”
The last Bond outing, No Time to Die (2021), marked Daniel Craig’s final performance as 007. Since then, fans and critics have speculated nonstop about who could take over the role. With Villeneuve confirmed as director and Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight tapped to write the script, things are finally moving forward.
Knight recently teased the project in an interview: “I’m hoping that being a Bond fan for so many years will be imbued into the script — something that’s the same but different, better, stronger, and bolder.”
There’s still no official release date for the next Bond film, but between Holland’s cryptic comments and the creative team now in place, the pieces are starting to fall into place.
Other names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Cillian Murphy, Happy Valley star James Norton, Snowfall’s Damson Idris, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Regé-Jean Page, and Richard Madden have all been mentioned at one time or another. Idris Elba was widely touted as the first black James Bond, before Aaron Pierce had his name thrown into the mix.
If Holland does end up shaking things up as the next 007? Let’s just say – he didn’t warn us.
