Taylor Swift helped introduce Ed Sheeran to the NFL years before she started dating the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce. Sheeran revealed his unexpected NFL allegiance during an interview. The British singer proudly declared that he supports the Tennessee Titans.
“I’m a Titans fan,” Sheeran said on Not Gonna Lie, the podcast hosted by Kylie Kelce. “I moved to Nashville for Taylor’s Red Tour in 2013 and got a place there. I went to Walmart to buy stuff for the house and picked up some pajamas. When I got home, someone saw them and said, ‘Oh, you’re a Titans fan?’ I was like, ‘Guess I am.’ And ever since, I’ve stuck with the Titans.”
Despite the Titans’ ongoing struggle to break into the NFL’s elite ranks, 34-year-old British singer Ed Sheeran has stayed loyal to the team – and even likened them to his soccer club back home, Ipswich Town FC.
Using a playful comparison, Sheeran joked about the Titans: “They’re always the bridesmaid – actually, I wouldn’t even say they’re a bridesmaid. They’re just invited to the wedding. They’re there.”
While he admitted the Titans aren’t exactly championship contenders, Sheeran said he enjoys the unpredictability that American football brings.
Ed Sheeran’s Bond with Taylor
Ed Sheeran’s bond with Taylor began in 2012 when they released their first collaboration, Everything Has Changed, on Taylor’s Red album. That partnership led Ed to join her for the U.S. leg of the Red Tour – the tour that ultimately brought him to Nashville and, indirectly, to the Titans.
While Taylor Swift understandably roots for the Kansas City Chiefs – thanks to her relationship with Travis Kelce – Sheeran has carved out his own NFL path down south. His loyalty now lies firmly with Tennessee.
Meanwhile, after two years together, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce seem to have settled into a more grounded phase of their relationship. Following months of public appearances and intense media coverage, the couple appears to have found their rhythm – and some much-needed peace.
