A 54-year-old paranormal investigator died unexpectedly while touring with the allegedly haunted Annabelle doll, according to tour organizers. Dan Rivera passed away on Sunday after wrapping up a three-day, sold-out stop in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, as part of his “Devils on the Run Tour.”
The New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), which Rivera was affiliated with, confirmed his death. Firefighters and medics responded to a call at his hotel for a man receiving CPR, but Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of death remains unclear. Officials said the death does not appear suspicious, and Rivera was found alone in his hotel room. An investigation is ongoing.

A U.S. Army veteran turned paranormal investigator, Dan Rivera, had spent years working closely with the NESPR, the organization established by legendary demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Rivera was well known in the paranormal community. He appeared on the Travel Channel’s Most Haunted Places and produced several shows, including Netflix’s 28 Days Haunted. On his latest tour, he and NESPR members traveled the U.S. with Annabelle, a doll claimed to be demonically possessed.
He also developed a strong online presence, sharing chilling insights and videos about haunted artefacts, including Annabelle, on TikTok.
Who is Annabelle?
Annabelle became infamous in the 1970s after a nursing student in Connecticut claimed it was haunted. Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren alleged the doll moved on its own, followed people, and committed acts of violence, including stabbing a police officer and causing a priest’s car crash. They eventually locked it away in their Occult Museum.
The doll inspired the Conjuring movie franchise and continues to stir speculation. Earlier this year, conspiracy theories falsely linked Annabelle to a prison escape and fire in Louisiana. Experts debunked the rumors, stating the doll was never missing or “out of control.”
