Dakota Johnson splits with Chris Martin, with a source citing the singer’s reluctance to set a wedding date as a key factor. The actress was “tired of him dragging his feet”. The couple had also clashed over the topic of having children.
Johnson, 35, reportedly wants to start a family, while Martin, 48, shares two children with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow. The singer is said to feel that chapter of his life is behind him. The couple had been together on and off since 2017, briefly splitting in 2019 before reconciling. At one point, Johnson was even seen wearing a large emerald ring, sparking rumors of an engagement.

While one source previously claimed the pair had been engaged for six years, another told People they were “in no rush” to marry.
On-again, Off-again
Despite their on-again, off-again history, Fifty Shades of Grey actress and the lead singer of Coldplay’s recent split still came as a surprise to fans. Just earlier this year, Johnson joined Martin in India for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour, with reports at the time painting them as a happy couple.
But this time, the breakup seems final. Over the course of their eight-year relationship, the pair were reportedly engaged for six of those years. The Daily Mail spoke to someone who claims Dakota and Chris’ relationship has actually “been over for a long time, they just haven’t been able to figure out to make it official.”
Despite their recent breakup, Chris Martin showed public support for Dakota Johnson at a Coldplay concert in Las Vegas. In a TikTok video from the event, Martin gave a shoutout to Johnson’s latest film while addressing the crowd.
“Thank you, everybody! Be kind to each other!” he said as the show wrapped up. “Don’t forget to go see The Materialists!”
Now, both stars appear to be focusing on their careers as they move on from the relationship.
