Songwriter and producer, Benny Blanco, recently shared an endearing and humorous story about his first kiss with Selena Gomez.
The couple, who began dating in mid-2023 and got engaged in December 2024, recounted how their relationship transitioned from friendship to romance.

On their second date, while playing the card game “We’re Not Really Strangers,” a prompt led them to take a selfie together. As Gomez leaned on Blanco’s chest for the photo, he felt compelled to kiss her. Gomez admitted that the kiss made her so nervous she developed a rash on her face.
She explained on the “Table Manners” podcast that she hadn’t genuinely liked someone in a long time, making the experience emotionally significant. Blanco joked about the incident, saying she might have been “allergic” to him, prompting laughter from both.

The Love On singer explained, “Some kisses are just for fun. But when you feel something behind it, it’s completely different.”
For the unversed, Selena is quite a private person when it comes to dating, and the singer was not linked to anyone romantically for almost five years before going official with Benny Blanco – minus, as she put it, a few “shi**ty dates here and there.”
So when this kiss felt different, she didn’t know how to act. “I was a little embarrassed,” Selena admitted. “He asked, ‘Are you OK?’ And I was like, ‘No, no, I’m fine.’ I didn’t want to say, ‘I like you, I really like you.'”
And despite the awkwardness, according to the duo, that kiss actually kicked off everything.
Gomez also revealed that she would arrive 20 to 30 minutes early for their dates, waiting in her car due to nerves. Blanco noticed this through his security cameras and found it endearing. Their candidness about these early moments highlights the depth of their connection and the joy they’ve found in each other.
