The custody battle between Anthony Edwards and his baby mama, Ayesha Howard, continues. This time, Howard wants more than just the money. She also wants a public apology.

The latest chapter in their dispute is that Howard has reportedly struggled to sign the custody papers. Ayesha gained temporary sole custody of their daughter, Aubri, last year, and Edwards agreed to it in April. However, Howard refused to finalize the documents because Edwards’ team included provisions she opposed – one barring her from speaking negatively about the Timberwolves star publicly, and another forbidding her from posting photos of their daughter.

On August 6, the NBA star’s representatives filed a new motion in Los Angeles Superior Court removing those stipulations. Despite the change, they allege Howard has now added her demands: a $500,000 payment and a public apology from Edwards.

An Apology Here and and Apoligy There

Howard’s team claims she wants him to post the apology “on all of his official social media platforms, publicly retracting all false, defamatory, or misleading statements made about her” and “affirming her integrity and her role as a mother.” According to their filing, Howard refuses to sign the custody papers until these demands are met.

Howard responded by clarifying that her $500,000 request has nothing to do with custody, but for the “substantial financial and reputational damages” she has endured during this prolonged litigation.

The Story So Far

The conflict began shortly after Aubri’s birth, when Edwards petitioned for Lil Baby’s ex to take a paternity test to confirm he was the father. The NBA star has repeatedly made it clear he does not want to be involved in the child’s life.

Edwards had already paid $1,080,000 in child support-covering the next 18 years for his child in one lump sum. Howard claimed that it is unfair because she can’t go back to court to ask for more if his income goes up. “This is injustice to a poor woman like me. I feel betrayed,” she said.

The debate on who deserves the bulk of the backlash is up in the air.
