Mariah Carey is probably the last person on Earth to hear about the Blue Origin space flight. In a recent interview, her reaction went viral for her candid reaction to the news that Katy Perry had traveled to space.
Her recent appearance on BBC Radio 2’s The Scott Mills Breakfast Show, Carey asked: “Did she go to space? Into orbit and back?”
Carey asked in her zen-like manner. “She’s like, floating in the … And this is true? Wow. All right, Katy. I’m not mad at her, that’s pretty amazing.”
Mills joked that Katy hasn’t stopped talking about the 11-minute voyage before pressing Mariah on whether she would do it herself.
The diva quipped, “I think I’ve done enough.”
The clip went viral, and people could not heap enough praise in the comments. “Mariah sued her ex husband for ‘wasting her time’ and she won. This should be a lesson to us all,” said one comment.
Meanwhile, Dannii Minogue wrote: “Did she go to space?”
The five-time Grammy winner also headlined Brighton & Hove Pride, taking the stage in a sparkling pink, blue, and silver dress with a matching jacket in the colors of the transgender flag. The back of the jacket read “protect the dolls.”
Speaking about her connection to the LGBT+ community, she said, “I feel like there’s a mutual love between us.”
Spaced Out
Katy Perry made headlines earlier this year when she joined five other women to go to space aboard Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’s rocket during the Blue Origin NS-13 mission. The group flew about 62 miles above Earth, skimming the edge of outer space before returning roughly 11 minutes later.
The expedition drew heavy criticism at the time, with some calling it a waste of resources. Responding to the criticism, Perry said that she felt like a ”human piñata.”
She is currently promoting her sixteenth studio album, Here for It All, set to drop on Sept. 26.
Mariah might be a star, but the only space she is interested in going is her own.
