Blake Lively is done playing nice. The Hollywood star has accused Justin Baldoni of trying to unleash Taylor Swift’s army of fans against her. All while demanding private texts between her and the pop icon. What began as a dismissed $400 million defamation lawsuit has now spiraled into a toxic legal tug-of-war. With Lively painting Baldoni’s legal team as manipulators using Swift’s influence as a weapon.
In a fiery new court filing, Lively is seeking to block Baldoni’s team from obtaining communications between her and Swift. Communications they allegedly already claimed to have seen. In a letter to Judge Lewis J. Liman, her attorneys say Wayfarer and Baldoni’s legal team are demanding documents they won’t even produce themselves. Lively now wants official protection from these demands. She has accused Baldoni’s side of double standards and gamesmanship.
Blake Lively Says Justin Baldoni Is Turning Swift’s Fanbase Into a Legal Tactic
But here’s where the gloves come off. Lively claims that this isn’t just a legal strategy. It’s a PR stunt. Her team says Baldoni’s real intent is to drag Taylor Swift deeper into the case. Using her name to stir up outrage and social media attacks from her notoriously passionate fanbase. In the letter, they claim the Swifties have become a key part of Baldoni’s “media strategy.” Suggesting he’s weaponizing the fandom against her.

The irony, of course, hasn’t been lost on observers. After all, Lively herself was accused of threatening to release 10 years of personal messages from Swift. Unless she issued a public statement. That threat, if real, makes her current role as protector feel, at best, complicated. Yet Lively seems determined to turn the narrative. She’s now positioning herself as Swift’s shield, not her saboteur.

A spokesperson for Lively told People that Baldoni and his team have been dragging Swift into this drama since August 2024. Moreover, a PR memo reportedly cited Swift and her fanbase as major assets in their legal battle. A fact Lively’s camp sees as evidence that the pop star was always meant to be used as leverage. And now that the defamation cases have all been thrown out. Lively suggests the new strategy is to “distract” the public from Baldoni’s courtroom losses.
In the end, Lively’s latest move signals a fierce escalation. And a clear attempt to flip the script. Instead of being accused of using Swift’s name for pressure. She’s now calling out Baldoni for doing exactly that. Whether the court agrees or not, one thing is certain. The drama is far from over.
