Fortnite is finally back on iOS devices. Players can once again download the game on iPhones and iPads. Apple approved the game earlier this month. It is now live on the App Store.

This marks the end of a long absence. Fortnite was removed from iOS in 2020. Epic had violated Apple’s App Store policies by offering direct payments. This allowed them to avoid Apple’s 30% fee on in-app purchases.

The decision sparked a legal battle. Epic’s move was part protest, part publicity stunt. Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store. What followed was a courtroom war between two tech giants.

The lawsuit ended with mixed results. Epic was found guilty of breaking rules. But Apple’s anti-steering policy was also ruled unlawful. The fight cost Epic over $1 billion. While Epic claimed a moral win, the final outcome remains unclear.

Fortnite On iOS: New Payment Options, Same Game

Now that Fortnite is back, players are greeted with familiar gameplay. After logging in, users can join matches or buy V-Bucks. The V-Bucks menu offers in-game currency with bonus rewards for larger purchases.

When players go to buy V-Bucks, they face two choices. One button takes them to an in-app purchase. The other links to Epic’s external payment page. Both look the same. No warnings are shown. But Epic offers 20% in bonus rewards if you choose their payment method.

This setup skirts Apple’s cut without breaking new rules. It reflects the ongoing tension between platform control and developer freedom.

Fortnite had been stuck on Chapter 2, Season 3 for 4 years and 337 days. Now, with the game live again, players can finally rejoin the battle on mobile.

    Availability May Vary by Region

For now, Fortnite is available on iOS only in certain regions. U.S. players can download it directly. Players in the EU can use the Epic Games Store app to get the game on Android.

In the UK, Fortnite is not yet back on iOS. UK players must rely on cloud services. These include Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce NOW, and Amazon Luna.

After nearly five years, Fortnite fans can celebrate. Victory Royale is once again within reach—this time, back in the palm of their hands.
